Hey there, and welcome to another monthly happiness report! This report will cover February, 2017, which was another happy month for me. I continued to enjoy my routinary life, and went on a snowboarding trip with my friends. Snowboarding in Skiwelt, Austria had a definite positive influence on my happiness! Life was good. 🙂
Let’s get started with the basics! The table below shows a summary of my happiness ratings.
Right on the average! My happiness remained quite high during February, after having had an already nice January.
Without wasting any time, let’s have a closer look at the happiness ratings of this month.
The chart below visualises exactly what my happiness ratings looked like throughout February, 2017.
I was pretty happy throughout February, 2017. The month started off great with a nice holiday in Austria with my friends. It was a great week filled with lots of fun, snowboarding and laughter. It was a fantastic holiday, which I will further cover later in this article. But I still want to show you a picture of one of the days I had. There was no way I was going to be unhappy in this weather!
After returning to the Netherlands, I was hit by a couple of strange days. Despite the fact that I had no reason to feel down whatsoever, I felt VERY troubled in my mind. It was a truly weird period, and I suddenly questioned everything I had in my life.
Were my friends really making me happy? Did I truly enjoy the snowboarding trip? Am I happy with my girlfriend? Do I feel happy in general? Out of NOWHERE, these questions started to haunt my mind, which resulted in a fair amount of anxiety and emotional instability.
Luckily, this period didn’t last very long. After a couple of days, I was back on a nice level of happiness again. PHEW. 🙂
On the 19th of February, my girlfriend and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary. It was one of the best days of the month. My girlfriend and I have experienced a lot of ups and downs in the past, but we were both extremely happy to be together. My girlfriend truly makes me happy, as proven by my extensive analysis!
Let’s quickly continue by looking at all the factors that influenced my happiness this month.

Snowboarding in Skiwelt, Brixen im Thale, Austria
The week of snowboarding was a nice time for me. Every single day, my friends and I would hit the slopes as long as possible. We had booked an appartment in Moosen, Austria, near to the huge “Skiwelt” area.
Skiwelt is enormous. After 5 full days of snowboarding, we didn’t even explore the entire area. There were just too many slopes for us to explore.
We were quite lucky with the weather. It was usually pretty clouded, but the vision was still mostly alright. Most of our days looked like this.
Unfortunately, we had bad weather on one day during our trip. There was a pretty big snowstorm, which made snowboarding pretty hard and dangerous. I tried to have fun, but I was freezing my ass off and couldn’t see shit. It was the 6th of February, which was still a nice day, but it could have been much better had the weather been alright.
Luckily, this snowstorm gave us plenty of fresh snow the day after! The next day was simply magical: the trees were covered in a layer of snow, and the slopes were absolutely perfect!
The holiday to Austria was pretty great. Not only did I enjoy snowboarding, it was also great to spend this time with my friends. My days were filled with laughter and good times because we were able to spend most of our time together.
The remained of February was actually quite uneventful for me. I spent most of my time with my girlfriend, running and at work. And I actually liked it all, even work! Work was really nice at the time. It was something that actually made me happy!

Positive happiness factors
The chart below shows all the positive happiness factors of February, 2017.
You can see that my month was filled by most normal happiness factors. That means that I found great happiness in my trusty passions, with running taking the lead yet again.
My happiness was positively influenced by my friends on 8 days, which is slightly more than usual! It was the result of our combined snowboarding trip to Austria! Even though I would describe myself as an introvert, spending time with my close group of friends directly had a positive influence on my happiness. 🙂
Before I wrap this post up, I want to show you all the negative happiness factors as well!
Negative happiness factors
The chart below shows all the negative happiness factors of February, 2017.
Starting on the 21st of February, I felt like I was getting a little sick. It was the kind of feeling you have when you’re not feeling fit, but it still doesn’t influence you that much. I remember thinking: “I could just run it off!”
So I tried to run it off.
It was not a success.
Sure, I was able to enjoy my life for a couple of more days, but it eventually caught up to me. I was getting sick, no matter what I did. It would have been better if I had just rested a little more, but I struggled with this flu for 6 full days because I thought I could just run it off. Lesson learned! 😉
The anxiety also had me down on 5 days. I call this emotional instability, because I’m not even sure what it was. For some reason, I started to doubt everything I had. It resulted in chaos and a restless feeling inside my head. Luckily, this “episode” didn’t last more than 5 days.
Just one more thing I want to mention. You might have already noticed it, but I was actually stressed for a day on my snowboarding trip to Austria. How?
I lost my smartphone in the snowstorm while running to the supermarket. It catapulted out of my backpack, and I only found out about it 10 minutes later at the supermarket. I spent that entire evening looking outside, scouring the snow-covered roads. But it was no use. After 2 years of trusty service, I had to look for a replacement of my phone. 🙁
Anyway, I think that covers my entire month of February again!
2017 started off fantastic, with a nice weekend to the sun in Morocco in January and a snowboarding trip in February. My happiness continued to be high, and things were great. I was enjoying just about everything in my life: my relationship, running, friends… Hell, I even enjoyed my work! It’ll be interesting to see how long that lasted! 😉
