This is the start of something new! Let me be the first to welcome you to the “Happy Blog”. This post serves as an introduction to what the happy blog is, and what I think it should become.
So let’s not waste anymore time, and get right to it!
Some brief history about Tracking Happiness
Let’s quickly recap everything that’s been happening since starting the Tracking Happiness.
Ever since I started tracking my happiness, I knew that tracking happiness had the potential to help more people than just me.
I knew I eventually wanted to try to inspire others, but how? I thought about multiple ways to share the idea of tracking happiness.
For example, I thought about developing an app that allows everybody to track their happiness. Of course, these apps already exists. Also, I quickly found that there was no way I could develop an app like this entirely on my own. No way in hell. Besides, how was I ever going to market this thing?
Then, somewhere during the early months of 2017 I thought “why not blog about my experiences?”
Hosting a blog requires relatively few expenses, the learning curve is not that big, and I can easily built it in my spare time! If I can somehow inspire others to join me on my journey, this might even grow into something bigger! Hell, I might eventually reach a point where I feel comfortable enough to develop this tracking happiness app anyway!
Yes, this felt right.
So on April 1st, 2017, I registered and hosted trackinghappiness.com. Let the blogging games begin.
So how has it gone so far?
A little more than a year has passed since I registered this domain. What has happened so far?
Before I answer that question, I want to share my overall goals and expectations with you.
You see, I’m in this for the long run.
Hell, all I’ve done last year is write about my experiences with tracking happiness. This might shock you, but I’ve written over 150.000 words about the last 4,5 years of my life. That’s a lot of words…
The way I see it, these posts are absolutely necessary. How can I expect people to start tracking their happiness when I cannot even prove that I’ve been doing the same? The way I see it, I must be as transparent as possible if I want to convince the world. That’s why I spent the majority of my time plating catch-up with my monthly happiness reports.
In the meantime, I’ve written a lot of interesting articles in addition to these personal happiness posts.
Don’t believe me? Have a look!
I believe these articles are my cornerstone content. That means that I think these articles are what makes my site unique. They are my unique selling points. Why? I don’t believe there’s anyone else who has almost 5 years of happiness tracking data AND is willing to share it with the internet. That’s why.
Anyway, this last month (April 2018) I finally finished catching up on my happiness tracking data when I released my latest monthly happiness report!
It meant that trackinghappiness.com was about to enter a new and exciting phase!
This new phase started with a complete redesign of the website (which is still ongoing!). But arguably more important, it meant that I could finally release the “Happy Blog”!
What is the Happy Blog about?
The Happy Blog will be about pretty much EVERYTHING that’s related to happiness. Most importantly, it will NOT be just about MY happiness.
You see, so far the scope of this website has been mostly my own personal happiness.
I want trackinghappiness.com to be so much more than just that!
I want the Happy Blog to be more about YOU!
The list of things I want to cover in the Happy Blog is virtually endless. But I still want to give it a try. The Happy Blog is going to include:
- Posts about (tracking) happiness from the community (that’s YOU!)
- Articles about more than just happiness (think about other psychological topics)
- Highlighting the most interesting studies
- Sharing insightful journals from all over the world
- Perhaps product or book reviews
- Guest posts from other prominent writers on the subject of happiness
- Editorial stuff
Yes, we are entering an interesting new phase, and I hope you want to be a part of this journey too!
If you are ready to start tracking your happiness, then I’d love for you to join our community!
And that concludes the introduction to the Happy Blog.
As always, if you have any questions about anything, please let me know in the comments below, and I’ll be happy to answer you!
